Sarah is a costume designer and stylist interested in the space in which the reality of our clothes intersects with the magic of our imagination. She has built her career in New York with some of the most talented and creative people in theater, opera, film and dance. Sarah is grateful for a career exploring characters and focusing human stories through the lens of clothing. 

Recently, Sarah designed the BLACK LABEL BACON STRIP SHOW at the Marquee Night Club in Las Vegas. Other recent projects include shopping on two feature films: GIRL ON THE TRAIN starring Emily Blunt, and THE YELLOW BIRDS starring Jennifer Aniston.

Some of Sarah’s favorite design collaborations include: THE LILY’S REVENGE written by and starring Taylor Mac, and THE SHAPE SHE MAKES created by Jonathan Bernstein and Susan Misner, both at the American Repertory Theater.

Favorite film designs include: THE CLERK’S TALE directed by James Franco, and HALF THE PERFECT WORLD directed by Cynthia Fredette.

Sarah has designed two world premiere dance pieces at the Brooklyn Academy of Music: DARK LARK with Kate Weare Company and ETERNAL NOW with Young Soon Kim White Wave Dance Company. Sarah won a Bessie for her design of THE RADIO SHOW with Kyle Abraham/AbrahamInMotion. Her designs were seen internationally in SUNFISH, a new American musical directed by Will Pomerantz and written by Hyeyoung Kim & Michael Cooper. SUNFISH received the top Jury Honor at the Daegu International Music Festival.

In New York, Sarah’s designs have been seen at Brooklyn Academy of Music, The Pearl Theatre Company, Soho Rep., Atlantic Theater Company, Theater for the New City, The Joyce Theater, Manhattan School of Music, the Lucille Lortel Theatre, the Ohio Theatre, PS122, and with Aquila Theatre, Center For Contemporary Opera, and The Shakespeare Society.

Regionally, Sarah’s credits include: American Repertory Theater, Syracuse Stage, the Hangar Theatre, Premiere Stages, Northern Stage, and Playwrights Theatre of New Jersey.

Sarah has been an adjunct professor at Queensborough Community College CUNY, and a guest artist/lecturer at Whitman College, SUNY New Paltz, Hofstra University, Muhlenberg Summer Music Theater, The Dalton School, and Lehigh University.

Sarah counts as her mentors some of the most talented costume designers in the industry. Among others she has assisted Ann Roth, Susan Hilferty, William Ivey Long, and Martin Pakledinez.

Most recent associate and assistant work on Broadway includes: SKYLIGHT with Carey Mulligan; Larry David’s FISH IN THE DARK; IT’S ONLY A PLAY with Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick; A DELICATE BALANCE with Glenn Close and John Lithgow; and THIS IS OUR YOUTH with Michael Cera and Tavi Gevinson.
